Forkbell is a calorie, nutrition and workout tracker for iPhone, provided by Tax One Advisory (OPC) Private Limited, SF-6, Mahalakshmi Towers, Rajagopalachari Street, Buckinghampet, Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh 520002, India ("we", "us"). This policy explains what data the app uses, where it goes, and the choices you have.
- Your logs (meals, workouts, water, goals) live on your iPhone and, if you use iCloud, in your own private iCloud storage. We can't see them.
- Apple Health data stays on your device. It is never uploaded to iCloud, our server or any AI service.
- When you ask for an AI food estimate, the photo or description is sent to our server and to Google's Gemini AI to calculate calories and macros. We don't keep it.
- No ads, no tracking, no analytics SDKs, and we never sell your data.
1. Data stored on your iPhone
Everything you log — meals and meal photos, workouts and sets, water, steps, weigh-ins, goals and your nutrition profile (such as age, height, weight, sex, activity level, diet and allergies) — is stored on your device so the app can work.
2. iCloud sync
If your iPhone is signed in to iCloud, the app syncs your meals (including photos), workouts, water, templates, goals and profile through Apple's iCloud, in your private iCloud database. This data is stored by Apple under your Apple ID and uses your iCloud storage. We have no access to it. Apple Health data is excluded from iCloud sync. You can turn iCloud off for Forkbell in the iPhone Settings app.
3. Apple Health
With your permission, Forkbell reads steps, body weight, body-fat percentage, active and resting energy, exercise minutes, walking and running distance, flights climbed, sleep, resting heart rate, heart-rate variability, your Activity (Move) goal and workouts. It writes only the weigh-ins you log in the app. Health data is used solely to show your activity and progress in the app. It stays on your device: it is not uploaded to iCloud, not sent to our server or to any AI service, not used for advertising, and never sold or shared. You can change permissions any time in the Health app.
4. AI food estimates
When you tap "Estimate with AI" or "Estimate from description" (or when a scanned barcode isn't found and the product name is used for an estimate), the app sends:
- the meal photo, reduced to a smaller size, and any note you added; or the text description;
- a random identifier created for this installation (not linked to your name, Apple ID or device hardware), used to apply the daily free allowance;
- if you subscribe to Forkbell Pro, Apple's signed confirmation of your subscription, so we can apply the Pro allowance.
This is processed by our server (hosted by Cloudflare) and by Google's Gemini API, which analyses the photo or text and returns the estimate. We do not store your photos or descriptions after the estimate is returned. Google processes them under its Gemini API terms; on the paid service we use, Google does not use this content to improve its products, and may keep it briefly to detect abuse. Please don't include personal information in meal photos or descriptions.
To enforce daily limits and prevent abuse, our server keeps simple counters: the random installation identifier or your IP address, the date, and how many estimates were used. These counters are deleted automatically after 30 days.
5. Barcode lookups
When you scan a barcode, the barcode number (only) is sent to Open Food Facts and, if needed, UPCitemdb to find the product and its nutrition.
6. Purchases
Forkbell Pro is sold through Apple's App Store. Apple handles payment; we never see your payment details. The app sends Apple's signed transaction information (product, dates and transaction identifier) to our server only to confirm your subscription is active. We don't store it.
7. Sign in with Apple (optional)
If you sign in with Apple, the app receives an Apple user identifier and, the first time, the name and email you choose to share (which can be a private relay address). These stay on your device and in your iCloud storage. They are not sent to our server.
8. What we don't do
We don't show ads, track you across apps or websites, use third-party analytics or advertising SDKs, or sell or rent your data. If you opt in to share analytics with app developers in iOS, Apple may provide us with anonymous crash and usage statistics.
9. Retention and deletion
- In the app: Settings › Account & iCloud › Delete Account & Data permanently erases your logs, goals and profile on this iPhone and in your iCloud.
- Deleting the app removes the data stored on the device. Data in iCloud can also be removed in the iPhone Settings app › your name › iCloud › Manage Storage.
- Server usage counters are deleted automatically after 30 days. Photos and descriptions sent for estimates are not stored.
10. Your rights
Under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and other applicable laws, you may ask to access, correct or erase your personal data, withdraw consent, nominate someone to exercise your rights, and have grievances addressed. Because most of your data is held only on your device and in your own iCloud, you can view, change or delete it directly in the app. For anything else, contact our Grievance Officer below. If you're not satisfied with our response, you may complain to the Data Protection Board of India.
11. Children
Forkbell is intended for adults aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly process data of children.
12. Security
Data is sent over encrypted connections (HTTPS). The AI service key is kept on our server, not in the app. iCloud data is protected by Apple.
13. Changes
We'll update this page when the app's data practices change and revise the effective date above. Significant changes will be highlighted in the app or its release notes.
